JOB TITLE: Research Assistant Intern (Data North)
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, one-year contract
LOCATION: Sault Ste. Marie
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Dr. Tamanna Rimi, Director of Research,
NORDIK START DATE: Immediately END DATE: One year after start date
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
WAGE: $36,400.00 - $55,000.00 per annum

Primary Function: NORDIK Institute is an innovative, community-based research hub dedicated to building healthy and resilient communities. We are currently seeking a Research Assistant intern to support the Data North project. This initiative aims to create a data hub for Northern communities, identifying needs and gaps to collect data across various sectors. Under the supervision of the Director of Research, Dr. Tamanna Rimi, the Research Assistant will assist with the planning and execution of this new data hub project.

Required Skills:
Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of database management systems
Experience with data integration tools
Skills in data analysis using tools (e.g., Stata, SPSS, R, SAS, Python, etc.).
Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
Experience with cloud platforms for data storage and processing.
Understanding of data governance practices and frameworks.
Understanding of data security protocols and encryption techniques.
Problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges.
Knowledge of research methods in the social science.
Experience in community engagement work.
Knowledge of Northern Ontario communities and context.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills
Requirements:
Qualifications:
The candidate should possess a degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields.
Candidate Eligibility:
To be eligible to participate in the NOHFC Internship, individuals must:
Be new entrants into the work force, are transitioning to a new career, or be unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field;
Have not previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship;
Be at least 18 years of age; and
Reside, and be legally entitled to work, in Canada.
