Position: Personal Assistant Starting
Range: $18.87 - $23.97 (Pending Education & Experience)
Full-Time - Permanent
Location: Garden River Administrative Office, 7 Shingwauk Street
Report to: Chief

POSITION SUMMARY
The Personal Assistant is responsible for providing effective and efficient administrative support to the Chief. The Personal Assistant functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission and Vision of the Garden River First Nation and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

DUTIES
- First point of contact between managers and internal/external clients for communications
- Schedule Management: setting up travel, meetings, and other appointments, effectively utilizing Microsoft Outlook and other schedule management tools to categorize all agenda items
- Office management duties including accurate organization and filing relevant documents and maintenance of files and records
- Information Preparations: preparing and formatting all required information defined by the Chief
- Records Management: taking steps to maintaining compliance with all applicable record keeping requirements
- Conduct research, interpret data, and compile reports
- Manage budget information, track and enter in invoices as required
- Working and collaborating with the executive assistant to Chief and Council
- Performing other related duties as maybe required or assigned
- Ensure information presented is complete and accurate
- Communicating all matters of importance to appropriate members of the organization in an accurate and timely fashion
- Ensure consistent project monitoring and provide progress reports to the Chief
- Provide a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis of problem and evaluation of alternate solutions with specific goals and objectives

Required Skills:
- Requires two-year college diploma in Office Administration, Business, and/or other related program;
- Required two years related experience in an office environment
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions; (Familiar with First Nations customs and traditions; being familiar with First Nation Culture and practices)
- Ability to work on weekends and/or after hours;
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to analyze problems and propose solutions;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
- Must be physically able to lift over 25 lbs, and work at a computer for long periods of time
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
- Excellent computer skills required (including MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
