Mental Wellness Co-ordinator
Purpose:
The Thessalon First Nation is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Mental Wellness Coordinator. To be a part of a multi-discipline health team by providing support and co-ordination of healing services for the Thessalon First Nation families within the mental health and addictions field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1.To provide case management services for clients within the Mental Health and Addictions field.
2.Assists NSTC Mental Health and Addictions clinics with the development and implementation of client care plans ensuring follow-up.
3.To co-ordinate and attend case management meetings as required.
4.To facilitate linkages to needed and wanted services, supports and resources including those in the broader community.
5.To complete intakes/referrals for individuals seeking professional treatment.
6.Be an integral active team member of the Thessalon First Nation Circle of Care Child Welfare Team.
7.Develops and delivers community based-program to individuals, family and community members which builds healthy lifestyles and social cohesion.
8.Provide some, and/or combination of the following types of activities and services: outreach; assessments; crisis intervention; short-term individual, or family supportive counselling; group work; referrals; and pre and post treatment services.
9.Assists the Health and Social Services Director by responding to requests for consultation and input into various Mental Health and Addictions issues.
10.Analyze, monitor, and evaluate programs and services.
11.Willing to take training as required.
12.Ensures all client files are up-to-date and accurate.
13.Completion of reports required of the Mental Wellness Co-ordinator program.
14.Demonstrate ability to interact with Chief and Council and community members.
15.Additional duties may be assigned.

Accountability
The Mental Wellness Co-ordinator will be directly accountable to the Health and Social Services Director and ultimately to the Thessalon First Nation Chief and Council.

Required Skills:
1.Must possess a College diploma and/or preferably a University degree in Social/Human Services
2.Should possess experience in working with Aboriginal families/or working within Aboriginal communities
3.Must possess a valid driver's license and have possession of a reliable vehicle.
4.Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of Mental Health and Addictions policies, programs, and services particularly as they relate to First Nations.
5.Familiar with computer applications
6.Preferred two to three years demonstrated experience within the Mental Health Field.
7.Must possess skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with the community leaders, health and social team members and general public.
8.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
9.Must be able to provide a clear CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check
