Counsellors will be responsible for providing individual and group counselling to clients in a professional and caring manner according to the philosophy, policies and procedures of the program.

Job Summary:
Counsellors will be responsible for providing individual and group counselling to clients in a professional and caring manner according to the philosophy, policies and procedures of the program.
Required Skills:
- Eligibility to become a certified Addictions Counsellor
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the area of alcohol and drug addiction and recovery
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions
- Awareness of the issues confronting Indigenous people in rural and urban communities
- Ability to relate to and empathize with clients
- Capable of meeting the written reporting requirements of the position
- Knowledge of the local Indigenous language would be an asset
- Highly developed individual and group counseling facilitation skills
- Experience in working with adult children of alcoholics, co-dependents and clients who present problems of childhood sexual/emotional abuse or similar issues, cross-addiction and who may have been involved with the criminal justice system
- Willingness to work as part of a team in a multi-disciplined setting
- Willingness to comply with program policies regarding client confidentiality
- Willingness to adhere to the standards of personal and professional ethics and program philosophy of Benbowopka Treatment Centre
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, as well as independently
- Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants
