Position: Master Plumber
Hourly Range: $32.06 - $35.35 (Pending Education and Qualifications)
Location: Garden River - Administration Office
Duration: 1 Year Contract

Position Summary
The Master Plumber works closely with the Capital Projects Supervisor. The plumber will be a skilled professional who installs, maintains, diagnoses and repairs all plumbing and equipment, throughout Garden River First Nation.

Duties
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of the plumbing system, water supply network, waste water and drainage systems;
- Install, repair, and maintain residential, commercial, or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems;
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors;
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings;
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines;
- Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment;
- Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges;
- May prepare cost estimates, cost analysis and obtaining quotes for external work when required for approval;
- Must have experience in cutting concrete foundations (Floors, walls, ceilings) along with knowledge of how the relocation of toilets tubs and sinks;
- Contact inspector to verify code compliant work;
- Communicate the issue to the client, and perform the repair of the issue diagnosed;
- Complete required documentation and submit reports as requested;
- Properly clean and maintain equipment, tools, and materials; safely operate equipment and vehicle;
- Performing other duties as may be required or assigned

- Master Plumber license with Red Seal Certification is required;
- Must be in good standings with Skilled trades Ontario ;
- Valid Ontario Drivers license with access to vehicle is considered an asset;
- Must have proven knowledge of current safety regulations as they apply;
- Residential, Commercial and industrial experience is an asset;
- Must be able to understand plumbing concepts, including blueprints and schematics;
- Thorough knowledge of the National and Ontario Building Code;
- Must have basic knowledge of construction methods;
- Ability to be on call; After Hours, Weekends, Holidays;
- Experience working in other trades is a bonus. (HVAC/Electrical /Renovations);
- Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
- Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
- Ability to report for work as scheduled;
- Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment (At Applicant Expense)
