Job Description:
CARPENTER
The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time position as a Carpenter.

Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Plant Maintenance, the candidate must have the ability to work independently or as part of a team on various tasks pertaining to the maintenance of ADSB properties.

Work will be performed primarily in the Central Algoma and Sault Ste. Marie areas of the Algoma District School Board from Goulais River to Thessalon with occasional travel required throughout the District of Algoma.

Compensation:
Wages: $29.05 per hour, 35 hours per week
Tradesperson Allowance: $0.64 per hour (certified trades only), 35 hours per week
Unionized position

Required Skills:
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum grade 12 education, be licensed as a Carpenter(403A),
and have a minimum of five years' experience. The successful candidate will also require a minimum of
two years' experience in an institutional/commercial environment, have basic computer skills, and a valid
G Class Driver's License. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also required.
Preference will be given to those candidates who also possess the following:
- Certificate of qualification as a Cabinetmaker (438A)
- Have experience with energy efficient construction,
- Proven ability to meet the physical demands of the position

Candidate must be able to frame floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs; install finishes to interiors and exteriors; build stairs, posts, and handrails; perform interior renovations including the installation of suspended
ceiling systems and interior/exterior door and window hardware. Candidate must also be able to work with wood and other materials to make furniture, cabinetry, architectural millwork, and decorative items.
Must know how to set up and operate woodworking machines and use traditional hand tools such as chisels and mallets.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will be required to complete a vulnerable sector check.
