Position: Junior Operator (Power Engineer 3rd class)
Location: Kapuskasing, ON

GreenFirst is looking for a 3rd class Power Engineer to help support the boiler house and assist the Shift Engineer with the day-to-day
operation of the plant's steam, wood waste and effluent treatment systems.

Responsibilities:
- Operates boilers through DCS control stations and by visual inspection
- Operates gas boilers #4 & #5
- Loads up gas boilers to meet mill steam requirements
- Visually check equipment (fans, stokers, grates, dampers, valves and controllers) on all levels of Steam Plant
- Blow down water columns and gauge glasses each shift
- Input data on daily log sheets for boilers, precipitators and TMP HRU
- Responsible for steam plant operations when the Senior Operator is completing plant rounds
- Assist Senior and assistant Operator in Boiler House as required
- Monitor steam flows, water flows and pressures through DCS
- Record operational problems in the Operator's log book
- Operate wood waste conveyors to ensure proper sludge/wood ratio
- Give direction to the Biomass Operator for fuel quality when required
- Maintain 250# and 35# header pressures
- Maintain 35# steam balance using the accumulator & 35# vent silencer
- Maintain feed water pressure to all boilers
- Support and assist any other duties as assigned
- Must be able to properly start-up and shut down boilers
- Must know what to do in case of power failure to protect boilers
- Know how to react in the case of a critical piece of equipment failure to ensure boilers stay operating
- Able to start equipment from DCS
- Knows how to shut down, drain and lock-out each boiler and combustor
- Assume Senior Operator duties when required
- Perform Assistant Operator duties when requires

Required Skills:
- Requires minimum of current valid 3rd Class Power Engineer certification
- Requires considerable sensory attention and Regulatory Responsibility
- Requires excellent mathematical skills, verbal communication skills and mental reasoning skills
- Don PPE as required to work in hot and dirty environments and or chemical hazardous environments
