Position: Transfer Station Foreman
Starting Range: $22.34 - $24.63 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: Transfer Station
Report to: Public Works Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Transfer Station Foreman is responsible for providing sanitization services to the Garden River Transfer Station. The Transfer Station Foreman functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.
DUTIES
- Maintain Transfer Station by keeping garbage and recyclables contained and organized;
- Keeping Transfer Station free of debris;
- Opening and closing Transfer Station gate according to the posted hours;
- Utilizing Truck to transport Transfer station containers;
- Emptying transfer station containers daily to the designated disposal site;
- Verifying membership of Garden River Members;
- Directing community members to designated areas;
- Acting as a liaison between management and Transfer Station Attendants;
- Maintenance of knowledge and compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and all workplace health and safety policies, programs and practices
- Preforming other related duties as may be required and assigned;

Required Skills:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred;
- Required two years related experience;
- Valid G driver's licence with a clean driving record
- DZ License, or willingness to obtain;
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials;
- Able to life heavy objects up to 50 pounds;
- Able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions;
- Be self-motivated, able to function effectively with little or no supervision;
- Related experience including: knowledge of the operations and maintenance of heavy equipment;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
- Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
- Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
- Willingness to accept changes in work practices and technology;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
- Ability to report for work as scheduled;
- Must undergo a criminal record vulnerable sector check prior to employment (At Applicant Expense)
- Required two years related experience;
