We work with our 11 First Nation community partners in primary health, traditional healing, mental wellness & addictions counselling, home and community support services and health promotion services.
The opportunity: The Indigenous Lead provides key leadership role with the implementation of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program across the Northeast. The role will be focused on implementation of OSP and move forward recommendations that are culturally safe and relevant for Indigenous people across the Northeast. The Indigenous Lead consults and collaborates with stakeholders, and Indigenous organizations, First Nations etc., across the span of the Northeast. This position includes some travel where feasible. The Indigenous Lead works toward and mobilizes the key deliverables outlined in the OSP Indigenous funding work plan for Fiscal year 2024/25 that are in alignment with overarching OSP program key deliverables.

Required Skills:
What you need to bring with you:
- Minimum of a four (4) year bachelor's degree in a health-related field, from an accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years leadership experience with Indigenous organizations leading and managing projects and development work as it relates to Indigenous people.
- Experience in the mental health and addiction sector.
- Experience working with Indigenous Communities and peoples and/or lived experience with First Nations, Inuit, Metis, or urban Indigenous Communities in Northeastern Ontario.
- Preference given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, Metis and live within the Ontario Health Northeast Region.
- Ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders across the Northeast and work productively in multi-faceted environment (i.e., in-person, travel, virtual).
- Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Metis history, culture, and health/socio-economic issues/needs in Ontario, including governance structures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous Communities and external healthcare organizations.
- Ability and understanding to incorporate Indigenous cultural values and perspectives into program designs and implementation with and for Indigenous people.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the Northeast region of Ontario when required
- This position will be fully remote (work from home).
- Preference for Indigenous person living within the North East Region of Ontario.

What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur. Accommodations for the disabled will be available upon request. An offer of employment will be conditional upon an acceptable vulnerable sector police records check. Hiring of Aboriginal People will be given preference, as allowed under Section 14 of the Ontario Human Rights Code - Special Programs.
