Job Description:
- Assists in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational programs and activities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, exercise classes, and social events
- Engages with residents one-on-one or in groups to encourage participation in activities
- Ensures activities are appropriate for residents' abilities, needs, and interests
- Monitors residents' participation, providing assistance and encouragement as needed
- Helps set up and clean up before and after activities
- Maintains a safe and supportive environment during all recreational activities
- Documents residents' participation and provides feedback to the Recreation Director
- Fosters a positive and engaging atmosphere for residents, encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being

Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in activation, recreation, and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or current enrollment in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field
- Current Standard and/or Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
- Food Handlers Certificate required
- Previous experience working in a long-term care setting preferred
- Sensitive and empathetic to the needs of residents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible, creative, and patient in providing recreational activities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures
