About Us:
The North Shore Health Network provides rural healthcare for communities along the north shore of Lake Huron - including services in Blind River, Thessalon and Richards Landing. The North Shore Health Network sites have been serving their communities faithfully for many years providing emergency, acute, complex continuing care, long term care and community support services.
Role:
- Providing resident care within their scope of practice, personal assistance and supervision to residents experiencing behaviours associated with complex and challenging mental health and/or physical impairment
- Coaching/mentoring fellow team members and contribute to the assessment of dementia, cognitive impairment, delirium, mental health, addictions, physical assessment and techniques of behavioural approach and evaluation, implementing best practice within their scope of practice
- Participating in effective and respectful collaboration with residents' family team members and inter-professional care teams, verbal and written communication, respecting and promoting the Residents' Bill of Rights, Long Term Care standards, policy and regulations
- Developing and implementing and evaluation recreational programs for residents on the BSO caseload
- Performing other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
- Current Personal Support Worker Certificate from an Accredited Program
- Relevant Education in Managing Responsive Behaviours
- Current C.P.R.
- Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in a Long Term Care Setting
- Clear Criminal Record
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to communicate with colleagues and external agencies
- Current related experience in working with patients/residents who exhibit responsive behaviors
- Excellent attendance Record
- Relevant Education in Managing Responsive Behaviours
