Job Description:
**3-Positions**
Heavy Equipment Operator - Full-time Permanent
Starting Range: $27.03- $29.80 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: 216 Noonday Road
Report to: Aggregates Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, loading trucks and other machinery, hauling aggregates, and clearing snow. Furthermore, they may be responsible for other day to day works pertaining to heavy equipment workloads. The Heavy Equipment Operator functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

DUTIES
Operation of equipment gravel crusher, loading trucks, hoppers, and other machinery as assigned
Lifting and repositioning heavy inventory and supplies
Moving aggregates around the job site
Clearing debris and ensuring clear paths around the crushing plant
Maintaining all equipment in safe operating condition following maintenance and service schedules (oil changes, filters, lubrications) according to service manual
Performs repair and replacement work as applicable, obtains approval for major service repairs
Reporting of any equipment and machinery malfunctions promptly and ensure the safety of the scene as per health and safety legislation
Maintaining Winter Control-Winging banks through snow removal-all band roads, cul-de-sacs, bus turnarounds, Aggregates job site, and plowing end of driveways
Ensuring completion of daily logs or reporting documents
Performing other related duties as may be required and assigned

Required Skills:
Required grade 12 diploma or equivalent work experience;
Required two years related experience;
Valid class G licence, \"DZ\" is an asset
Related experience including: knowledge of the operations and maintenance of heavy equipment, sanding and snow removal, construction, gravel pit operations;
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
Willingness to accept changes in work practices and technology;
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
Computer skills is an asset (including MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
Ability to report for work as scheduled;
Ability to attend at work regularly;
Must undergo a criminal record check prior and driver's abstract prior to employment. (At Applicant Expense)
