Position: General Labourer - Full-time Permanent
Starting Range: $24.57 - $27.09 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: 216 Noonday Road
Report to: Aggregates Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The General Labourer of the Garden River Aggregates division is responsible for providing general labour support across the department which includes maintenance and management of assigned areas, operation of varies equipment and tools, and tidiness and cleanliness of assigned areas. The General Labourer will function within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities
DUTIES
Operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of equipment such as chain saws, weed trimmers, lawn mowers, garden tractors, compactors, hand tools, hedge trimmers, edgers, pole saws, pole pruners, grinders, light trucks and any other similar equipment
Perform routine manual tasks such as, but not limited to,
Vehicle and equipment cleaning and maintenance
Flagging and traffic control
Groundskeeping and maintenance
Manual weeding, weed trimming, grass cutting and raking.
Clearing and maintaining parking lot, shop and work areas
Stocking of supplies and other janitorial duties.
Unloading, loading and moving of supplies.
Snow removal through shoveling, sanding and salting
Cleaning, sanding and painting.
Cleaning and maintaining working area, tools and equipment;
Perform all other duties as may be required;

Required Skills:
High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred however not necessary based on experience;
2 years experience in a labour related industry
Required valid class \"G\" licence
DZ License an asset, not required
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials;
Be self-motivated, able to function effectively with little or no supervision;
Able to following specific instructions so they may successfully complete their duties within a specific amount of time;
Knowledge of truck and equipment safety;
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
Effective verbal and listening communications skills;
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
Excellent computer skills (including MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous and respectful manner;
Must wear P.P.E (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times;
Valid First Aid/CPR, WHMIS and Tetanus Shot;
Valid Driver's license and ability to diagnose minor repairs to vehicles an asset;
Ability to work flexible hours;
Ability to attend work regularly;
Must undergo a criminal record check and driver's abstract prior to employment (At Applicant Expense)
2 years experience in a labour related industry
