Job Description:
Summer Camp Co-ordinator
CBHC Summer Camp Co-ordinator is responsible for assisting the Programming Co-ordinator with the development, co-ordination and delivery of children's Summer Camps. The Summer Camp Co-ordinator may be responsible for a cohort of children and directing CBHC Summer Flight Crew in the delivery of summer programming. S/he will attend outreach events and represent the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. The Summer Camp Co-ordinator is responsible for the overall guest experience, and ensures all aspects of the experience meet or exceed guest expectations (service, security, cleanliness, etc.). S/he may be required to assist the Education Co-ordinator with the delivery of other educational programming, including the delivery of centre tours.
This a summer job, subject to approved funding. You must be a student and under the age of 30 to be eligible. Anticipated start date is late June with employment for 8-12 weeks.
This is a full-time paid position supported by Canada Summer Jobs.
Vacation is paid as per the Employment Standards Act.
Hours of Work are set by the supervisor and can include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities
-Conducts and co-ordinates Summer Camp programming, including planning and administration, programming development and delivery.
-Monitors and cares for children's needs following CBHC health & safety protocols.
-Helps co-ordinate other camp counsellors in their efforts to monitor children.
-Assists the Program Co-ordinator and Education Co-ordinator with the delivery of programming, including off-site and on-site outreach events.
-Trained in tour delivery and the Northern Nature Trade.
-Actively greets and engages with all guests, in person and on the phone.
-Conducts the Start Up and Shut Down procedures on the floor, turning on/off lights and exhibits.
-General maintenance of the building grounds, exhibits and gift shop, including weeding, garbage disposal, wiping down exhibits and gift shop displays, sweeping/mopping floor, cleaning washrooms, minor maintenance repairs, etc.
-Maintains general knowledge of displays to be able to answer visitor questions.
-Complies with all health and safety policies and maintains knowledge of emergency procedures. Maintains security of building
-Maintains knowledge of events, products and gift shop in order to advise and sell to visitors.
-Assists with events, as directed, including setup and tear down of tables, chairs, staging and more.
-Prepares and serves snacks and beverages for children.
-Other duties as assigned.

-Experience working with children as a camp counsellor, educator or instructor, an asset.

-Proven self-starter capable of working in a team and independently.
-Demonstrated innovation and creativity in solving challenges.
