JOB SUMMARY
The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is one of 17 Regional Innovation Centres in Ontario. We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to economic development and diversification in the science and technology sectors in the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma region.
Our mission is to drive business growth, facilitate research and commercialize innovation in science and technology through partnerships, expert advice, community development, business incubation, youth outreach and sector development activities.
We are seeking a motivated Sales and Account Intern to join our team. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sales and business development within a fast-paced and supportive environment. The Sales and Account Intern will work closely with our sales team, assisting in various stages of the sales process and contributing to the growth of our customer base.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting to the Vice President, Sales and Operations, the successful candidate will collaborate with key internal partners (Marketing, Business Development, Finance, Consulting, etc.) to contribute to sales initiatives to support our sales teams.
- Build and effectively cultivate customer centric partnerships through building relationships with current and new contacts.
- Assist in prospecting and generating new leads through various channels (cold-calling, networking, social media, etc.).
- Identify and assess client interests, challenges and needs; prepare and present sales proposals and contracts to close opportunities.
- Conduct market research to identify potential customers and market trends.
- Participate in sales meetings and training sessions.
- Help maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer information in our CRM system.
- Provide administrative support to the sales team as needed.
- Assist with organization, preparation and setup for conferences and seminars.
