PERMANENT FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Community Energy Coordinator
Technical Services/Planning & Infrastructure Unit
Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 (based on experience)
JOB SUMMARY:
Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation is committed to environmental conservation and sustainability. From individual residences to commercial businesses and community buildings, our community members need customized energy efficiency programs to help them meet their energy conservation goals. We are currently accepting applications for a Community Energy Coordinator who will provide a wide range of energy-saving and renewable energy-related guidance within the community.
The Community Energy Coordinator is responsible for achieving Sagamok Anishnawbek's energy planning goals.
POSITION DUTIES
- Delivering high quality and professional services to the First Nation's community members
- Implement Community Energy Plan recommendations. This may involve applications for funding or existing conservation programs
- Complete walk-through energy audits of community and residential buildings to identify opportunities for energy efficient retrofits
- Respond to general community members' inquiries regarding utility services and for directing to the appropriate contact at the utility company as needed
- Creating awareness programs to encourage community member participation in energy conservation and rebate programs to manage energy costs, where applicable
- Install and recommend energy saving solutions such as energy efficiency lighting, hot water blankets and programmable thermostats. Provide follow-up services of these visits, if needed
- Initiate conversations with community members regarding energy usage and conservation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of funding opportunities available for community members, utility rates, and renewable energy funding opportunities
- All other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required
- College Diploma in Engineering, Planning, and Environmental Science is an asset or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience
- Strong knowledge of energy conservation, renewable energy production and climate change issues
- A strong background in customer service
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Willingness to engage all community members
- Valid Class \"G\" Ontario Driver's License
- Training opportunities will be provided through workshops, online courses, etc.
- Ojibway language would be considered an asset

Requirements:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Sign & comply with an annual oath of confidentiality
- Incumbent is subject to six months' probation
- Clear Criminal Records Check (CPIC)/Vulnerable Sector Screen that is valid within 6 months
- Valid driver's license and vehicle for on-the-job use
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Sign & comply with an annual oath of confidentiality
- Incumbent is subject to six months' probation
- Clear Criminal Records Check (CPIC)/Vulnerable Sector Screen that is valid within 6 months
- Valid driver's license and vehicle for on-the-job use
