Bail Verification & Supervision Program (BVSP) Worker
East Algoma Part-Time Position
21 hours per week at $24.20 - $26.51 per hour
1-year Fixed Term Contract; position available immediately
JHS has been providing services in the community for 55 years. We are a multi-service agency that partners with other agencies to improve our community members' quality of life.
The successful candidate will provide community supervision and monitor bail conditions of eligible individuals. Location of work will be in East Algoma; Blind River and Elliot Lake primarily. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients.

Required Skills:
Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited college/university in social sciences with a minimum of one-year experience in social work/social service work; plus have:
-Residency in the Algoma District and ability to work from home
-Use of personal vehicle and valid Driver's license in good standing; travel is required
-Self-motivated to work independently and in a team environment
-Bilingualism would be an asset
-Excellent verbal and written communication, assessment and counselling skills.
-Excellent organizational skills.
-Ability to relate well with accused persons, and representatives of the Algoma Treatment & Remand Centre, Court and police departments.
-Knowledge of the specific needs of justice-involved members of the community
-Ability to perform basic statistical analysis.
-Extensive knowledge of community resources
-Ability to prepare accurate written reports for various levels of administration.
-Demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged youth and adults; specifically those with addictions and mental health
-Proficiency with the use of computer software and navigating Zoom/Virtual meetings
-Valid First Aid/CPR, Naloxone Administration
