Job Description:
Reports to: Field Service Manager
Location: Blind River, ON
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
Anticipated Duration: Full Time, Permanent
Training Wage: $18 to $20/Hour

Mobile Field Technician Responsibilities Include:
- Installing, maintaining, operating, and repairing client and NSPG equipment
- Measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing, solar modules, etc.
- Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation/maintenance efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
- Ensuring preventative maintenance duties are completed as prescribed and at the correct intervals.
- Documenting and communicating daily work details such as daily checks, call-out responses, troubleshooting, repair work, etc in logbooks, timesheets, and checklists.
- Performing O&M inspections and other planned and preventative maintenance/tasks within allotted timeframes.
- Responding to unscheduled repair tasks or call outs to ensure safety within a timely manner.
- Good communication skills required to communicate with colleagues, management, and clients directly.
- Quoting work, procuring material, obtaining approval to proceed, and managing jobs to completion.
- Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical solar and hydroelectric malfunctions.
- Completing electrical or mechanical repairs and warranty work on solar and hydroelectric equipment.
- Maintaining a clean workspace and environment, including but not limited to daily clean up and organization, tool, equipment and vehicle cleaning, lawn care and vegetation control and other janitorial duties.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment.
- Hands-on supervision of staff as assigned (Site/project lead).
- Ability to accurately follow instructions, retain information and give direction to subordinates.
- Completion of manual labour as required.
- Completion of appropriate paperwork or online documentation in a neat and detailed manner.
- Monitoring project sites, managing warranty claims, completing work orders, reporting work requests as required to resolve any power production issues or respond to client needs in a timely manner.
- Work safely under all circumstances and seek guidance for any work for which they are unfamiliar or do not feel competent to perform safely.
- Report hazards and any Health and Safety or Policy violations to help maintain the safety of your colleagues, clients, and yourself.
- Operate and care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
- Follow Company procedures and all applicable laws.
- Operate Man Lift.
- Transporting cargo, team members and equipment in a safe and secure manner.
- Calculating towed or hauled weights to determine compliance within vehicle's permitted limits.
- Safe operation of Vehicles and UTVs, obeying all laws and company policies.
- Working at heights, near or over water, etc.
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Working with PLC, Scada and other instruments.
- Working with computers and mobile devices required.
- Emergency response team member: scheduled as part of the weekend on call coverage team.
- Included on the call out list for emergency response / unscheduled repairs
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Travelling out of town required, with overnight stays.
- Quality control
- Vehicle and equipment circle check inspections, damage reporting, maintenance and repair planning, documentation, and monitoring.

Additional Job Tasks May Include:
- Heavy equipment operation.
- Completing regular operational reports for clients and management.
- Visiting sites to determine feasibility of new off-grid or net metered projects, or new O&M programs.
- Project development and planning.
- Policy revision and/or creation.
- Safety training and meetings.
- All other duties as trained and assigned.

Required Skills:
Mobile Field Technician Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Successful Candidates must demonstrate initiative and sound judgment along with the following qualifications, skills, and abilities:
- Valid Ontario Drivers License (Class \"G\" minimum).
- Physically demanding position with lots of standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and quality of work.
- Good general mechanical, electrical and technical knowledge and abilities.
- Prior hydroelectric and/or solar experience and knowledge an asset.
- Prior experience in electrical, construction, industrial and/or material handling is considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Working at Heights, CPR, First Aid and Aerial Platform certification an asset.
- Work based on client coordination, material, personnel availability and priority response, so technicians must have the ability to adapt to changing assignments.

These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:
- Extreme weather conditions, including heat, sun, cold, rain, wind, etc.
- High voltage equipment hazards.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but extreme levels/job tasks exist
- Remote work and working alone

On completion of the training, worker may qualify to advance to a Mobile Field Technician Role.
