Job Description:
Reports to: Master Electrician
Location: Blind River, ON
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
Anticipated Duration: Full Time, Permanent
Salary Range: Negotiable, depending on qualifications/experience

Electrician Responsibilities Include:
- 1-3 years experience (required).
- Installing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems in accordance with appropriate codes.
- Troubleshoot electrical concerns and problems.
- New construction wiring and renovations
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems.
- Perform load calculations.
- Execute panel and transformer work.
- Provide training to assigned electrical apprentices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Dam operation.
- Select and procure equipment for new, existing and retrofit work.
- Applying for ESA Permits, manage ESA Continuous Safety Services Program
- Lead the electrical installation and maintenance of solar electric systems, battery energy storage systems, and EV chargers with or on behalf of the Master Electrician.
- Perform project commissioning or close out including electrical testing.
- Performing O&M inspections and tasks within allotted timeframes.
- Completing regular operational reports for clients and management.
- Communicating with directly clients.
- Quoting work, procuring material, obtaining approval to proceed, and managing jobs to completion to ensure finalized under quoted budget.
- Completion or coordination of preventative maintenance schedule.
- Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical solar and hydroelectric malfunctions.
- Completing electrical or mechanical repairs to solar and hydroelectric equipment.
- Maintaining a clean and safe workspace and environment.
- Supervision of staff and completion of manual labour as required.
- Completion of appropriate paperwork in a neat and detailed manner.
- Monitoring project sites, managing warranty claims, issuing and completing work orders as required to resolve any power production issues in a timely manner.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions, retain information and give direction to subordinates.
- Interpreting control drawings, mechanical plans and specifications.
- Troubleshoot, locate, identify and diagnose malfunctions
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Ontario Electrical Code
- Working at heights, near or over water, etc.
- PLC, Scada and other instrument work required.
- Emergency response.
- Included on the call out list for emergency response / unscheduled repairs once trained.

Additional Job Tasks Will Include:
- Visiting sites to determine feasibility of new off-grid or net metered projects.
- Project development, planning and oversite, including subcontractor work, safety and supervision.
- Policy/procedure revision, recommendation and/or creation.
- Safety training and meetings.
- Working safely in extreme weather conditions: rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
- All other duties as trained and assigned.
- Travelling out of town for work, including overnight stays.
- Mobile Field Technician duties as required.
- Dam operation
- All other duties as trained and assigned.

Work Environment Characteristics
These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:
- Extreme weather conditions, including heat, sun, cold, rain, wind, etc.
- High voltage equipment hazards.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but extreme levels/job tasks exist
- Remote work and working alone

Required Skills:
Electrician Qualifications
Successful Candidates must demonstrate initiative and sound judgment along with the following qualifications, skills and abilities:
- Journeyperson Electrician CoQ.
- Red Seal certification is an asset.
- Valid Ontario \"G\" Driver's License with clean driver's abstract required.
- Physically demanding position with lots of standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and quality of work.
- Good general mechanical, electrical and technical knowledge and abilities.
- Prior hydroelectric and/or solar experience and knowledge an asset.
- Prior experience in electrical, construction, industrial and/or material handling is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Team player.
- Working at Heights, CPR, First Aid and Aerial Platform certification an asset.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to bend, lift, twist, reach.
- Ability to lift 50lbs on a frequent or repetitive basis.
- Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and ability to work independently, make decisions, and take responsibility for technical matters.
- Have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience with Computers, electronic mobile devices, general office software knowledge (google suite, MS Office suite) and ability to access, navigate and work on various websites.
