Job Description:
As a valued member of the team, the Registered Dietitian provides consultant services as they pertain to the clinical and therapeutic nutrition and hydration requirements of the resident in accordance with equality management, legislative requirements, and organization standards.
This position can be a telemedicine or in-person role and we are open to all candidates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans organize, directs, and evaluates residents' nutritional care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides nutritional care including assessments, reassessments, and develops appropriate nutrition interventions in consultation with the interdisciplinary team.
- Develops Therapeutic menus for special diets not included in the Therapeutic menu extensions.
- Identification of risks related to nutrition care, dietary services, and hydration. Implementation of interventions to mitigate and manage nutrition and hydration risk.
- Provide nutrition / dietary counseling or education for residents and/or their caregivers, family members, or substitute decision-makers for the purpose of supporting optimum resident nutrition care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
EDUCATION:
- Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition University Program
- Member of College of Dietitians of Ontario
- Minimum 2 years experience in a long term care home
- Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition University Program

- Experience working with seniors, particularly in a long-term care setting.
- An energetic individual that possesses effective leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate initiative, the ability to work independently and/or in a team setting.
- Innovative resident-centred approach
- Knowledge of relevant legislation governing the long-term care sector, for example, the Long Term Care Homes Act.
- Knowledge of appropriate interventions in nutritional care for Long Term Care setting needs include but are not limited to dementia, dysphagia, tube feeding, weight management, wound treatment, diabetes, renal disease, food allergies, and intolerances.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long Term care dietary and nutrition regulations.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills are required.
