Job Description:

This is a 1-year contract. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9 to 5 pm.
The Event Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting the organization to execute its fundraising campaign. Work will include planning, organizing and executing various fundraising events. This position will support the Fundraising & Marketing Coordinator, along with the Fundraising Committee in their work which will include organizing meetings, developing agendas, taking minutes, and drafting reports.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach
.Seeking out and attending community events that align with Habitat's vision, mission and values
.Promoting the Habitat ReStore
.Identifying and cultivating relationship with residents, community organizations, and businesses through coordinated outreach efforts and attending meetings as a representative of Habitat
.Acting as a friendly point of contact
Administration
.Preparing agendas for Fundraising Committee meetings
.Circulating meeting invites as and when necessary
.Developing minutes that accurately reflect meeting discussions and outcomes
.Responding to telephone and email inquiries
Event Management
.Assisting staff and volunteers to plan, coordinate and manage events including draws, build days, signature events, and third-party fundraisers
.Providing active support to all fund development projects
.Promoting events in collaboration with staff, volunteers and Fundraising Committee
.Creating invitations and managing attendance
.Executing events in collaboration with staff, volunteers and Fundraising Committee
.Developing and maintaining a budget for events in collaboration with appropriate staff;
.Reconciling funds after an event;
.Evaluating all initiatives and reporting on outcomes;
.Collaborating with staff for lottery application and report with the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
Material Production
.Preparing content as required including social media posts, posters, and newsletters that reflect Habitat for Humanity mission, vision and values
.Developing post-event reports in collaboration with appropriate staff and volunteers
Marketing
.Promoting events in collaborating with staff, volunteers and committees;
.Creating invitations and managing attendance;
.Ensuring acknowledgement, recognition and follow up with event donors, sponsors and partners in a timely and appropriate manner;
.Identifying marketing opportunities and evaluating opportunities in collaborating with staff;
.Working collaboratively with staff to develop and implement an annual marketing plan, including email marketing, social media and advertising
.Preparing content as required including signage, press releases, social media posts, and flyers; and,
.Participating in interviews and commercials as necessary
Knowledge of Brand and Products
.Promoting Habitat for Humanity Vision, Mission and Values
.Promoting ReStore as the HFHSSMA Social Enterprise that generates revenue for builds
.Promoting the use of the Processing Centre for high quality donations
Other Responsibilities
.Providing a friendly and knowledgeable initial point of contact for public, volunteers, donors, and Habitat Affiliates
.Performing additional duties as assigned

Required Skills:
- Minimum Grade 12 graduate
- Preferable college or university education in marketing, fundraising, and/or public relations
- Criminal Records Check is required as a condition of placement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Adobe, and website maintenance
- Ability to learn and use other software
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work through difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Organized, accurate and efficient
- Dependable, with good time management
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to problem solve and exercise good judgement
