The Role
The Human Resources Generalist works with the HR Business Partner to provide excellent client service that supports a variety of Human Resources functions including but not limited to recruitment and selection, onboarding, performance management, attendance management, disability management, health & safety, labour relations, training & development, and departmental administrative requirements. The HR Generalist is a driven
and results-oriented member of a dedicated Human Resources team that brings to life the Human Resources Business Plan.

This position is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining databases to provide trend analysis for key performance indicators within a variety of HR functions
- Full-cycle recruitment
- Developing a strong knowledge base and maintaining best practices for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and ways that YNCU can best support newcomers settling into their new position(s)
- Performing HR and Labour Relations administrative functions including but not limited to the maintenance of employee files, preparation of documentation, and general responses to Union inquiries
- Providing consultation, coaching, and support to the business in all areas of Human Resources
- Conducting employee exit interviews, identifying trends and providing recommendations for effective change
- Providing a positive and welcoming environment between HR and Staff
- Working collaboratively within the HR and the Payroll teams by managing relevant employee information (e.g., vacation, benefits, leaves of absence, sick days, and work schedules)
- Preparing and processing employee letters and forms related to new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, salary adjustments, immigration support, etc.
- Providing support to HRBP with employee resource group initiatives such as wellness, recognition, engagement, DEI and other

Required Skills:
What we are looking for
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in the field of human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in human resources field
- CHRP designation or working towards, considered an asset
- Experience working in a financial institution and/or unionized environment is an asset
- Excellent computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and aptitude for computer based tools
- Well-developed networking and researching skills
- Ability to travel to northern YNCU locations
- Ability to work flexible hours, at times
- Must be bondable
