Position: Registered Behavior Technician
Starting Range: $24.09 - $30.75 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: Wellness Centre
Report to: Wellness Centre Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Garden River First Nation Wellness Centre (GRFNWC) is seeking one (1) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to be responsible for working closely with the Jordan's Principles' team offering services to support special needs children from birth to 17 years of age.
DUTIES
- Implement behavioral intervention (ABA Based Services) with children and youth who are identified on the Autism Spectrum, or experiencing behavioral challenges due to learning or mental health challenges;
- Provide direct behavioral analysis (ABA Based Services) with children and youth;
- Support appropriate communication and interaction styles of significant adults in the child's experience;
- Responsible for environmental support, facilitating appropriate communication and interaction styles of significant adults in the child's experience;
- Provide support to children, their families, and educators in the home, child-care centre and/or school;
- Work closely with children and adolescents diagnosed with autism;
- Work closely with the Behavioral/Mental Health Team;
- Support administrative tasks to the Jordans' Principles' Team
- Participate in supervisory meetings, performance appraisals and self evaluations;
- Participate in professional development and team activities;
- Perform other duties as may be required or assigned;

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Diploma in Human Services or a related field and/or an equivalent amount of education and experience as determined by GRFN;
- Training in behavioural sciences field considered an asset;
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents diagnosed with autism;
- Ability to anticipate clients' unique needs;
- Willingness and ability to engage in On-The-Job Training;
- Willingness and ability to engage in On-Line learning with opportunity to obtain certification as an R.B.T;. Must have current First Aid/CPR;
- Familiarity with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Personal Information and Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA);
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care and resources;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Excellent facilitation, coordination, assessment and planning skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
- Flexibility to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
- Ability to travel if necessary;
- Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment (At applicant expenses).

The RBT functions within legislative, regulations, policies and procedures and the mission, beliefs, and vision of the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.
