6 (six) Month Contract - EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
COMMUNITY WELLNESS WORKER
Family & Community Support Services
Salary Range: $22.00 - $30.00/hour (dependent on experience)
JOB SUMMARY
The Community Wellness Worker will offer a culturally integrated and holistic approach to health and wellness of community families. While building community relationships, you will promote a culturally safe, healthy and supportive environment that instills a sense of dignity and respect.
The Community Wellness Worker will provide advocacy, education, referrals and programs and activities to individuals, groups and families in the community.
POSITION DUTIES
- Collaborate and plan events to promote personal, family and community wellness
- Work collaboratively with staff members at Community Wellness Department
- Assist in planning, designing and facilitating various group-based workshops and activities focused on improving indigenous health and enabling participants to achieve and enjoy a healthy and spiritually balanced life
- Maintain up-to-date electronic and paper-based client files, ensuring they are securely stored with restricted access
- Provide client-based services that utilize case management techniques such as establishing trusting relationships, case noting, advocacy and referrals
- Establish trusting relationships with clients, and provide case noting, advocacy and referrals
- Distribute information on community wellness workshops, community events and other departmental initiatives via the community newsletter, website, bulletin boards and other multi-media platforms as required
- Participate, assist in other CWD activities as required

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
- Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR, WHMIS
- A strong understanding of First Nations' cultures, values and history

Requirements:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Valid driver's license and vehicle for on-the-job use
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Sign and maintain an annual oath of confidentiality
- Secure and maintain certification in Privacy and Confidentiality
- Must provide a vulnerable sector check prior to commencing employment
