Job Description:
The North Shore Health Network provides rural healthcare for communities along the north shore of Lake Huron - including services in Blind River, Thessalon and Richards Landing. The North Shore Health Network sites have been serving their communities faithfully for many years providing emergency, acute, complex continuing care, long term care and community support services.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively use the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient and documenting appropriately in the patient chart
- Responsible for making clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided
- Knowledgeable in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care
- Participate and be involved in the implementation and practice of theory/evidence based approach to nursing care
- Participate and collaborate with other care providers to ensure best possible patient care outcomes
- Provide health teaching to patients and families
- Knowledgeable about the quality indicators tracked to measure patient care outcomes and work life outcomes
- Involved in the decision making processes of the unit/nursing department as required
- Maintains own continuing education to enhance professional knowledge and growth

Required Skills:
- Registered Practical Nurse with a current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Competence
- Current CPR
- Medication Administration Course and Health Assessment Course if not a Diploma Graduate
- Bilingualism considered an asset
