Position: Manager, Mental Health, and Addictions
Salary Range: $38.80 - 49.52 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: Wellness Centre
Report to: CAO

Maintain, develop and implement strategic objectives to ensure the consistent delivery of mental health and addiction services for Garden River
First Nation members, both on and off reserve. Responsible to provide regular reporting on the delivery of mental health and addictions services
within the assigned area. The Manager may be required to work with other First Nations, agencies and/or other Garden River First Nation
departments to ensure the implementation of best practices within the field. The Manager will also be responsible to identify and address
program challenges and opportunities for improvement, as well as establish program objectives. The recommendations of the Manager may have
a direct impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources, program and service delivery as well as financial budgets. The Manager
may also be expected to provide support after a critical incident, with little advance notice, and may involve loss of life or debilitating effects due
to suicide, fire, accidents, overdose and others. After hours work due to exigent/emergency calls related to mental health and addictions may be
required.

DUTIES
- Ensuring that all mental health and addiction clients receive equitable, efficient, appropriate, accessible, timely and confidential services;
- Advising/informing the appropriate senior staff, when appropriate and necessary, or as requested, with regards to program/service delivery, plans, outcomes, opportunities, risks, threats and incidents that could potentially affect the safety and/or well-being of clients;
- Leading and overseeing the implementation of work plans that are in line with Garden River First Nation mission and values. Verifying and ensuring best practices are utilized for mental health and addiction services;
- Establishing and contributing to the development and implementation of key performance indicators, improvement measures. Includes development of various reports regarding the program as necessary and required. May also require the gathering and analysis of data in order to track and evaluate program indicators;
- Sharing information with appropriate stakeholders through various modes (including presentations) in regards to the program's priorities, goals and progress;
- Working collaboratively with other various agencies (internal and external) , as well as staff, to ensure that the needs of clients with mental health or substance abuse issues are effectively and efficiently met;
- Managing a budget, human and capitol resources in such a manner that it facilitates a successful mental health and addictions program;
- Participating in the recruitment and placement of staff, as well as developing strategies for retention;
- Perform other duties as may be required or assigned;

Required Skills:
- University degree with concentration in psychology, clinical psychology, counselling psychology or nursing, with a demonstrated focus on mental health and addictions OR an equivalent amount of education and experience as determined by the organization;
- Three years relevant experience dealing with mental health and addictions;
- 2 years of supervisory/management experience in mental health and addictions or a related field;
- Ability to use good judgement in assessing difficult situations;
- Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
- Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
- Excellent computer skills (including MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
- Must undergo a criminal record check (CPIC), and a vulnerable sector check prior to employment. (Applicant Expense)
