Job Description:
As the Mechanical Supervisor you will be directly responsible for the mechanical rebuild shop at Soo Foundry. This area is comprised of millwrights and apprentices as well as mechanically inclined individuals. You will have 2 lead hands that will report to you directly and approximately 12 workers
Your duties will include directing and distributing work, quoting various mechanical components such as hydraulic cylinders, creating work orders for incoming work and ordering materials. You will also plan manpower for our work and coordinate scheduling with the customer as well as our other departments.
Major rebuilds are a part of Soo Foundry's core business and they require a large amount of planning and coordination. This type of work requires a person to lead as a project manager and you can be called upon to do so.
As department supervisors are unavailable you will help cover their workload as needed. As this is a supervisor position you will be responsible for your departments performance and will be required to promote and discipline workers as required. When there is a vacancy in this department you will also be a part of the hiring committee.
Our field work labor is drawn primarily from the mechanical shop, you will be required to assist in the planning and execution of the work. In some cases where the work requires added supervision you will be called upon to work with the leaders in that area. This work is typically located within city limits.

Required Skills:
- Post Secondary Education in a related field
- 10 years of experience in Mechanical Role in Industry
- 5 years of Supervision Experience
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Excel and Word
- Experience using an SAP system
- A Designation in Project Management would be considered an Asset
- Experience in a Union Environment
- 10 years of experience in Mechanical Role in Industry
