Elliot Lake Retirement Living (ELRL) is the leading provider of rental housing to retired and non-retired individuals in the province. ELRL owns a total of 1,375 residential units in the City of Elliot Lake. Elliot Lake Retirement Living (ELRL) is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive community for our tenants. We are looking for a compassionate and professional Tenant Relations Specialist to join our team and support our tenants in maintaining a high quality of life.
Position Overview
As a Tenant Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in managing tenant relations, addressing concerns, and collaborating with community partners to support tenants. Reporting to the Manager of Sales and Lease Administration, you will ensure tenant well-being while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, staff, and community partners.
- Address and resolve tenant inquiries and complaints (excluding maintenance requests).
- Provide guidance on lease agreements and tenancy concerns, including issues such as:
- Neighbor disputes
- Tenant well-being concerns
- Units requiring intervention (e.g., hoarding, cleanliness)
- Noise and smoking complaints
- Assist tenants or next of kin in accessing government resources and support services.
- Ensure compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act, PIPEDA, Ontario Human Rights Code, and AODA.
- Maintain accurate tenant records in multiple software platforms.
- Prepare and serve tenancy-related notices and collaborate with legal professionals as required.
- Coordinate tenant transitions, including handling tenancy matters related to deceased tenants.
- Organize and support tenant activities, information sessions, and community engagement initiatives.
- Work with internal teams to address unresolved maintenance concerns impacting tenant well-being.
Salary
This is a part- time position to start, $25-$30/hr.

Required Skills:
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development, Property Management, Business Administration, or Conflict Resolution (preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years in tenant relations, or social work.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, seniors, or individuals at risk (e.g., mental health, hoarding, addiction support).
- Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis intervention skills.
- Familiarity with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), Ontario Human Rights Code, and AODA.
- Bilingualism is an asset.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
