Job Description:
Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Equipment Operator -Excavator, Grader, Dozer, Loader in the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario area. This is a full-time seasonal position available with an extensive benefits package, suitable for someone looking to explore a rewarding career in the construction industry.
JOB DUTIES:
- Safely operate heavy equipment, with knowledge of loading requirements.
- Preform mandatory daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment and attend daily safety meetings.
- Complete daily inspections and reporting of production.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment when required.
- Identify, report and correct hazards.
- Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
- Constantly monitor equipment fitness, and ever-changing conditions.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment when required.
- Maintain accurate electronic hours of service logs and vehicle inspection logs.
- Travel to job sites with overnight stays when required.
- Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
- Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
Education:
- Valid G Class Driver's License.
- High school diploma is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years' experience operating heavy equipment.
- Surface Miner Common Core is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.)
- Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
