The Organization
Community Living Algoma is dedicated to supporting people with developmental disabilities so they can live full lives and be inclusive members of their own communities. They serve that mission by offering a broad range of personalized supports and services, closely aligned with the individual goals of supported people including choice of where they want to live, learn, work and enjoy their leisure time.
CLA was founded in 1954 by parents of children with developmental disabilities who were concerned about the future teaching and inclusion of their children. We have continued that focus on supporting people to enjoy life in the community for over sixty years.
Operating residential homes, Community based homes, Supported Independent Living, Community participation supports, Employment, Urgent Response and Volunteer Services, the agency provides support to over 500 individuals and families each year.
As a Cook/Houskeeper, at CLA, you will:
- Be responsible for the supplying of all meals to individuals including breakfast, lunch, dinner, special occasions and holidays.
- Ensure appropriate dietary needs and nutritional requirements of individuals are met.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the site is in accordance with the governing legislation and the approved policies and procedures of the Association.
- Prepare grocery lists and purchase all required food in an economical and efficient manner.
- Plan and coordinate menus in advance including a variety of nutritious food utilizing seasonal product to best advantage.
- Adhere to Canada Food Guide recommendations.
- Ensure adequate supply of food is kept on hand.
- Prepare meals in advance and for specific diets when necessary and required.
- Establish and maintain a warm and personal relationship with all individuals.
- Load dishwasher, wash dishes and to put away clean dishes.
- Ensures cleaning schedule of assigned area is prepared and followed.
- Laundry, sweeping, mopping and other housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as required by the reporting manager.

- Food Safe Certificate.
- One-year experience in cleaning and housekeeping work and experience in providing nutritionally balanced meals and special diets.
- Health requirements as outlined in the Social Inclusion Act and CLA Policies and Procedures.
- A valid driver's license may be required; a valid G driver's license would be considered an asset. If you have a full G driver's license, please attach a copy to your application.

RATE OF PAY & HOURS OF WORK AVAILABLE:
- $26.98 Hourly
- Shifts will be 3pm - 6pm Daily
- Days scheduled and times of shift are subject to change.
- Expected to Work on Weekdays, Weekends and Statutory Holidays
