Job Description:
Maintenance person is to perform general repair activities within the established guidelines related to health and safety, infection control, quality management and the organization standards. Other duties to be performed include routine and preventative maintenance, repair of some equipment within scope, and monitoring building mechanical and electrical systems.

Carry out inspections of internal lighting, plumbing and HVAC systems and nurse call systems. Perform painting repairs as required for building, including both interior and exterior. Perform minor construction as directed. Replace light bulbs when required. Follow up on all internal maintenance requests and complete.

Replace filters and service all roof exhausts and ventilation as per scheduled preventative maintenance program. Monitor air and water temperatures. Receive deliveries

Ensure all building entrances, sidewalks, fire exits and parking lots are kept clear and free of snow and ice. As well as grass cutting, and general ground maintenance.

Complete proper documentation of required tasks and communicate concerns and high-risk issues to immediate supervisor. Ensure appropriate utilization of all supplies and equipment. Utilize assigned equipment and supplies appropriately as per policies and procedures.

Knowledge and interpretation of MOHLTC legislation, regulation and process. Contribute to the implementation of processes and systems to ensure compliance to all standards on an ongoing basis. Work in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills:
- Must have a valid/ insurable G Drivers License
- Experience in general maintenance and repairs.
- Some experience in working around machinery, building trades and operations.
- Sound knowledge of the fundamentals of the services of a maintenance department, the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the home.
- Ability to maintain neat and accurate storage records.
- Knowledge of the requirements of The Long-Term Care Homes Act, Standards and Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the home and more specifically those which affect the fire and general safety and maintenance aspects of the operation.
- Ability to read, write English and follow written instructions.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.

- High School diploma or equivalent
