NOGDAWINDAMIN Family and Community Services, a designated Indigenous Child Welfare Agency under the Child Youth and Family Services Act serving member First Nations situated between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury is seeking to hire:
FULL-TIME CONTRACT TO MARCH 31, 2025
MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS COUNSELLOR
LOCATION: SAGAMOK ANISHNAWBEK
*NEW SALARY* Salary Range: $68,353.00 to $88,915.00

Job Summary
The Mental Health & Addictions Counsellor will support individuals struggling with substance abuse and addictions disorders with help towards a path to recovery. The Mental Health & Addictions Counsellor assists individuals in locating and utilizing community resources including medical, housing, employment, daycare, and other services during Usage, Aftercare and Detox. The Mental Health & Addictions Counsellor functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Nogdawindamin Family and Community Services and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

Job Summary

Required Skills:
Post secondary diploma in Addictions and Mental Health programs is required
Relevant diploma or degree in Human Services may be considered
Minimum 2 years' experience as a therapist, social worker, or counsellor working with people with mental health and/or addiction issues
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Requirements:
Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture, traditions and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
Ability to understand and speak Anishnaabemowin is a definite asset
Must provide a Criminal Records Check deemed satisfactory by the employer
Must have a Class 'G' Ontario Driver's Licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel
Must have $1M automobile insurance coverage
