Position: General Labourer / Maintenance Worker
Starting Range: $20.31 - $25.92 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: Garden River First Nation
Report to: Directed Supervisor / Assigned Designate

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction and supervision of the supervisor, to assist with any and all tasks as assigned. The General Labourer, functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

DUTIES
- Required physical demands of exertion and lifting occasionally, load/unload, move construction materials around the worksite
- Operate equipment, as needed
- Ensure worksite is organized, free of clutter and garbage
- Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours and work in inclement weather
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Communicating in a professional manner
- Maintenance knowledge and compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations and all workplace health and safety policies, programs and practices
- Reporting immediately any contravention of the Occupational Health & Safety Act or any workplace hazard, the absence or defect of any self or others, including employees and clients, to the immediate supervisor, any other manager or the Band Manager, as appropriate
- Maintain all required training up-to-date and provide documentation
- Adapting to a variety of tasks which could include cleaning
- Perform other related duties that may be required or assigned

Required Skills:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred
- Valid Driver License considered an asset.
- Access to own vehicle considered an asset but not required
- Excellent time management skills
- Must work well in group setting and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
- Flexibility to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to use good judgement when assessing difficult situations
- Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous and respectful manner
- Ability to attend work regularly
- Must provide own P.P.E (Safety boots, hard hats and high visible vests)
- Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment (At Applicant Expense)
