Court Assistant and Intake Intern (NOHFC)
(One-year Internship Contract)
35 hours/wk, Wages: $19/hr
The John Howard Society has been providing services in the community for 55 years. We are a multi-service agency that partners with other agencies to improve our community members' quality of life. The successful candidate will offer support to clients within the agency and in the community. This position will be working with our bail supervision and direct accountability teams completing intakes and assessment, supporting case management, navigating virtual court appearances and providing referrals.

Required Skills:
Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited college/university in social sciences plus have:
-Demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged adults
-Demonstrated excellent communication/interpersonal/organizational skills
-Proficiency with the use of computer software and navigating Zoom/virtual meetings
-Use of personal vehicle and valid driver's license in good standing; as needed
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
-Knowledge of community resources
-Bilingualism would be an asset
-Demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged adults

Requirements:
NOHFC Eligibility requirements: a new entrant into the work force, are transition to a new career, unemployed or underemployed and entering a new field; have not participated in a NOHFC-funded internship; at least 18 years of age; reside in Northern Ontario; and legally entitled to work in Canada.
