Job Title: Lifeguards / Swim Instructors
Pay Rate / Hour: 16.55
The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is now accepting applications for multiple Lifeguard/Swim Instructor positions within the Aquatics Department. The ideal candidate should be energetic, self-motivated, enjoy working with youth, and be able to work in a team or independently.
Nature and Scope
Reporting directly to the Aquatics Lead. The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor will be responsible for the safety and well-being of everyone in the pool area and be able to teach various levels of swimming to all age groups.
Responsibilities
-The safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the swimming pool
-Enforcing Ontario Pool regulations, rules and admissions standards
-Swim Instructors are required to teach various levels of swimming to all age groups, update swim lessonrosters weekly and prepare progress cards seasonally
-Effectively communicate with members and families

-Current National Lifeguard Certification (required)
-Current Standard First Aid Certification (required)
-Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required upon hire)
-Swim Instructor (recommended)
-Lifesaving Instructor (desirable)
-Any Aquatic Fitness certification (desirable)
Availability
Part time hours (Scheduled shifts could include days, afternoons and weekends)
