Position: Health and Safety Coordinator
Location: Ontario, Canada (with travel to USA sites)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join our HSE team at Hydro Tech. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees across Canadian and USA sites. The Health and Safety Officer will review, evaluate, and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to prevent accidents and occupational injuries. This position reports to the Manager of Human Resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Lead and participate in workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, incidents and accidents.
-Lead and participate in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees.
-Develop and implement health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies, and training to mitigate risk, optimize worker's health and safety and foster a positive occupational health and safety culture.
-Initiate enforcement procedures on workplaces contravening organization and government health and safety standards and regulations.
-Provide training to employers, employees and the public on issues of workplace safety.
-Communicate, engage and influence decision-makers and workers to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
-Will travel to various worksites to a robust health and safety program.
-Perform other safety related duties as assigned.
-Any other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Required Skills:
Core Competencies
-Superior communication skills, both written and oral
-Strong leadership skills
-Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and OSHA
-Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing environments.
-Ability to work in teams and collaborate with other employees
-Ability to organize priorities according to company timelines.
-Highly motivated and able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or any related field, (biology, chemistry, engineering) plus a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience;
-Certification as an ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
-In-depth experience with Canadian and U.S. health and safety regulations, including OSHA and provincial standards.
-Extensive experience within the construction industry, with a focus on safety and compliance.
-Strong judgment and decision-making abilities, with a track record of successfully mitigating risks.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex safety concepts clearly and effectively.
-Proven ability to influence and drive strategic health and safety initiatives, collaborating with leadership to align safety goals with business objectives.
-Exceptional multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
-Advanced technical writing skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
-Familiarity with project management and budgeting processes.
-Certifications in First Aid, CPR, confined space entry, and working at heights.
-Valid passport and driver's license required.
