The Ojibways of Batchewana First Nation (BFN) are a progressive and vibrant Indigenous community situated on the north-eastern shore of Lake Superior adjacent to the City of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The First Nation Is comprised of four land bases: Rankin, Goulais Bay, Obadjiwon, and Whitefish Island.

As part of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians and signatories to the Robinson Huron Treaty, Batchewana First Nation assert their sovereignty, jurisdiction, and expressions of nationhood through a multitude of approaches each and everyday.

Summary of Position
The RECE Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day care of children attending the program, and delivery of age-appropriate learning/developmental experiences within the 'How Does Learning Happen' curriculum. The RECE Teacher follows policies and procedures for assisting with the overall maintenance of supplies, equipment, and facilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Guide children's physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development by following 'How Does Learning Happen' curriculum.
Assess and follow the interests of the children with activities and learning experiences.
Use a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
Maintain effective and respectful communication with parents of children in the center and reporting any concerns or pertinent information to the Supervisor.
Participate in the development and implementation of parent participation and teaching programs.
Participate in the execution of internal and external program reviews and evaluations as required, including the annual licence renewal process.
Plan and carry out experiences that foster an understanding of the Ojibway culture and values.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
Qualifications & Experience
Early Childhood Education Diploma.
1-year related experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Exceptional interpersonal, relationship, and leadership skills.
Effective verbal, written and communication skills.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
Effective negotiation and mediation, conflict resolution, and advisory skills.
Ability to demonstrate integrity, empathy, trust, respect, and understanding by always acting with a high degree of professionalism.
Familiar with First Nation traditions and history.
Requirements:

Clean CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check.
Registered Early Childhood Education Certificate.
Updated Immunization record.
