Who we are? We are a leader in First Nation Health. Our foundation is Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services and health promotion services. We have recently been approved as the first Indigenous lead Ontario Health Team by the Ministry of Health.

The opportunity: Under the direction of the Manager of Health and Wellness, the Registered Dietician is responsible to provide comprehensive nutritional services, incorporating health, culture, and socio-economic status to member First Nations, and where applicable, the Sault Ste. Marie Indian Friendship Centre. The Registered Dietician will work within a team of Registered Dieticians and Diabetes Nurse Educators, as well as other multi-disciplinary team members to provide Indigenous people and their families affected by diabetes and other health conditions with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to live a good life.

Required Skills:
What you need to bring with you:
- University degree in Dietetics or Nutritionist from a recognized University
- Completion of a Dieticians of Canada accredited dietetic internship or Master's degree with demonstrated competencies
- Certified Diabetes Educator certificate an asset
- Must be a member of the College of Dieticians of Ontario and Dieticians of Canada
- Two years Dietician experience in a clinical setting
- A clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
- Knowledge of community-based health care
- Knowledge of interest in the health issues affecting Indigenous people
- Knowledge and ability to work in cross cultural settings
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of Indigenous cultural values and traditions

Requirements:
What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Aboriginal people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage, or cedar may occur.
