Job Description:
We are currently looking for a Support and Inclusion Counsellor to join our team of committed professionals. This is a fulltime summer contract position within the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA.

Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Child, Youth and Family and the Site Lead, the Inclusion Counsellors are responsible for providing one-on-one support to campers with additional needs during their time at camp. Inclusion Counsellors are caring, enthusiastic, and patient. They will use strategies to ensure that their campers experience success in the camp program. Inclusion Counsellors will receive training and support but should come into this role with some knowledge and experience related to inclusion.

Positions are available at two sites, Camp McNabb and Sault College Waterfront. Available camps include Cheer-nastics, Dance, Kid's Club, Gymnastics, Sports & Games, Swim, Creative Discovery, Sault College Waterfront Activity Centre*.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver daily programs: group games, crafts, swimming, outside time, etc.
- Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
- Apply behaviour management training techniques with the program participants
- Communicate with all staff, Site Leads and Supervisors/Managers
- Ensure the safety of all participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices and procedures
- Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed
- Welcome all children to programs
- Professionally always represent the YMCA
- Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
- Programming: Assist in developing program inclusion and modification strategies to create a successful camping experience for all. Act as a resource for other day camp staff regarding inclusive programming.
- Camper Care: Provide Manage behavioural incidents and implement behavioural redirection techniques when needed. Be a role model for safety and take responsibility for the supervision and security of all participants in your care.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Schedule: Day shift - 8:30-4:30 or 9-5 Monday to Friday
Work Location: McNabb site or Sault College Waterfront site
Expected training start date: 2024-06-19
Contract start date: 2024-07-02

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High Five Sport or Principles of Healthy Child Development an asset not a requirement
- Current Certification in Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Experience working with children and youth in a recreational setting
- Camp McNabb Gymnastics Counsellors must possess current Level 1 Gymnastics certification
- Lifeguards must possess National Lifeguard Certification
- Education in Child and Youth Work / Education / Psychology / Disability Support Work / Social Work / Kinesiology / Recreation an asset
- must be able to swim

- must be 15-30yrs of age
