The North Shore Health Network provides rural healthcare for communities along the north shore of Lake Huron - including services in Blind River, Thessalon and Richards Landing. The North Shore Health Network sites have been serving their communities faithfully for many years providing emergency, acute, complex continuing care, long-term care and community support services.
The Role:
At NSHN, the Manager of Human Resources, with the support of Senior Leadership, is responsible for proactively enhance the human resource program and meeting the HR needs of diverse health service provider. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to recruitment, performance management, benefit administration, employee relations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy;
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues;
- Manage the recruitment and selection process;
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital;
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization;
- Nurture a positive work environment;
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Maintain pay plan and benefits program;
- Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs;
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics;
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management;

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent combination education and experience;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Human Resources experience in a unionized environment;
- Excellent knowledge of HR areas of practice and relevant legislation;
- Strong understanding of HR best practices;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
- Ability to operate and maintain related equipment;
- Proficient in Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, and Power Point);
- Able to carry out the physical demands of the position in a safe manner;
- CHRP or willingness to acquire HR designation;
- Clear criminal record.
PREFERRED:
- Proven work experience as HR Manager or other HR executive;
- Bilingual - English & French considered a strong asset;
- CHRL Designation considered a strong asset.
