Job Description:
A great opportunity to join MPP Bill Rosenberg's team at his new constituency office located in Thessalon. Working with the executive assistant, you will be part of the Northern team representing beautiful Algoma-Manitoulin.
Position summary
Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the MPP and their constituency office. Responds to, and documents, all telephone and written inquiries/complaints/concerns raised by constituents. Works co-operatively with other staff to produce communication materials. Ensures the Member or their delegate is well informed of potential issues.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and document constituent inquiries/complaints/concerns.
- Resolve inquiries/complaints/concerns independently, with senior staff, or by forwarding to the appropriate Ministry or level of government (federal or municipal).
- Maintain records on constituency concerns.
- Brief the MPP/EA on ongoing issues in the riding.
- Maintain database/mailing lists.
- Perform media monitoring for the riding.
- Prepare congratulatory scrolls for special occasions, including business openings, birthdays, etc.
- Draft and revise a variety of documents, including speeches for local events, reports, correspondence.
- Attend events and meetings on behalf of, or with, the Member as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
Experience/Education
- Post-secondary education in administrative studies or equivalent.
- Office experience.
Qualifications:
- General office administration knowledge and experience is required.
- Strong and versatile written and verbal communication skills.
- Patience and the ability to show empathy.
- Ability to use judgment and discretion.
- Able to multi-task and manage projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail oriented and able to work independently.
- Confidentially handle requests from multiple sources.
- Ability to prioritize and determine the appropriate course of action.
- Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal government responsibilities.
- Strong computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to attend some evening and weekend events.
- (Bilingual French/English would be an asset)
