Job Description:
The Algoma District Services Administration Board (ADSAB) provides Children's Services, Land Ambulance, Ontario Works, Public Housing and other services to 20 organized municipalities and the unorganized townships within the geographic District of Algoma.

We are seeking candidates for the position of.
Part-time Building Custodian (off-site)
141A & 141B Church Street, Echo Bay
10-unit apartment buildings

Reporting to the Housing Services Supervisor, the Building Custodian is responsible for providing janitorial services at social housing properties, including cleaning and preparing units for new tenants, maintaining the cleanliness of common areas, performing minor maintenance and repairs, performing exterior landscape work and clearing of all walkways and doorways to ensure safe passage, as well as providing general health and safety checks for the property.

The Building Custodian is anticipated to be regularly scheduled to work 1.5 hours per day, each building, Monday through Friday and be available to respond to tenant and building issues. Additional hours may be required for assigned duties such as properly cleaning and preparing a vacated unit prior to another tenant moving in. In addition, the Building Custodian must be available to perform duties, as required, outside of normal scheduled hours. The hourly rate for this position is $30.62.

Required Skills:
This position requires:
- physical fitness to safely perform job duties requiring moderate to heavy strength and physical effort;
- commitment to safe work practices and to maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for tenants;
- completion of secondary school diploma, or equivalent;
- ability to manage workload and work independently, with minimal supervision;
- ability to operate mechanical equipment;
- working knowledge of basic maintenance and repair techniques including electrical, plumbing and painting;
- ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with tenants, contractors, supervisors and others as required;
- basic computer skills;
- effective interpersonal skills;
- knowledge of building health and safety procedures;
- bilingualism (English / French) is considered an asset
