Job Description:
The Personal Support Worker provides for the individual needs of the residents according to an established resident care plan, all components of activities of daily living, and supporting participation in recreational and therapeutic activities.
As a valued member of the team, the Personal Support Worker demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures and promotes the provision of resident-focused care to meet the needs of residents as follows:
A) Promotes the philosophy and practices of resident centeredness in all residents' encounters and decisions.
B) Promotes the Residents' Bill of Rights
C) Supports and helps provide a Residency Advocacy Program
D) Maintains a wellness and rehabilitative perspective.
E) Facilitates relationships between and among residents, relatives, team members, and the community.
F) Supports opportunities for resident/family participation in decisions that affect the resident's rights and lifestyle.

Required Skills:
-Must possess certification as a Personal Support Workers through a recognized College or educational institution
-Consideration will be given to those with a valid Health Care Aide Certificate
-Demonstrated experience in a long-term care setting is preferable
-Proficiency in interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
-Proficiency with Microsoft Word, email, internet use, and computerized documentation is an asset
-Professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care
-Consideration will be given to those with a valid Health Care Aide Certificate
-Demonstrated experience in a long-term care setting is preferable
-Proficiency in interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
-Proficiency with Microsoft Word, email, internet use, and computerized documentation is an asset
-Professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care
