Job Description:
The Licensed/Registered Practical Foot Care Nurse monitors and delivers foot care to clients in a long-term care home setting as per the nursing care plan and in accordance with all required internal and external professional practice standards.
- Provide care according to the established care plan ensuring that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent; care must be within the scope of practice of a licensed/registered practical foot care nurse.
- Perform specialized nursing procedures specifically to foot care for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated.
- Observe and document client conditions and changes following the proper standards and in accordance with professional and Algoma Manor standards.
- Understand and implement infection prevention practices while specifically adhering to care standards as it relates to foot care, and diabetic foot care.
- Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
- Maintains confidentiality of client and Algoma Manor information and discusses same only with appropriate Algoma Manor personnel.
- Complete other tasks as requested.

Required Skills:
- Experience working in a long-term care Setting
- Graduated from an accredited Licensed/Registered Practical Nursing Program
- Current registration with the provincial licensing body
- Basic and Advanced footcare certificate is required
- Demonstrated clinical competencies related to the provision of foot care, previous experience with Geriatric and Diabetic populations considered an assets.
- Must demonstrate initiative, the ability to work independently and/or in a team setting
- Effective verbal and written English Communication skills required
- Graduated from an accredited Licensed/Registered Practical Nursing Program
- Current registration with the provincial licensing body
- Basic and Advanced footcare certificate is required
- Demonstrated clinical competencies related to the provision of foot care, previous experience with Geriatric and Diabetic populations considered an assets.
- Must demonstrate initiative, the ability to work independently and/or in a team setting
- Effective verbal and written English Communication skills required
