Position: Power Engineer 3rd class
Location: Chapleau, ON.
GreenFirst is looking for a 3rd class Power Engineer to support the Cogeneration Operation and assist the Shift Engineer with the operation of the plant's systems for the production of steam and power.

- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as applicable regulations and laws
Responsibilities:
- Maintain shift log entries during each shift to ensure full awareness of any outstanding issues that may require special attention during the shift
- Support the operation of steam, condensate, water treatment, wastewater, boiler chemistry systems, and boiler safety equipment
- Monitor equipment (pumps, conveyors, motors) on all levels of the Steam Plant, while ensuring equipment maintenance i.e.: greasing when needed.
- Ability to operate: fuel handling loader and Diesel Boiler
- Record operational problems in the Operator's logbook
- Ability to operate fuel biomass and ash-handling equipment
- Understand compressed air/ cooling/ utility/ fire water systems
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and working at heights
- Support and assist with any other duties as assigned
- Understands/ performs start-up/ shut down, drain, and lock-out of Cogeneration equipment and systems

- Minimum valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certification with a commitment to attain 3rd/ 2nd Class Certification
- Requires considerable sensory attention and Regulatory Responsibility
- Requires excellent mathematical skills, verbal communication skills, and mental reasoning skills
- Wear appropriate PPE as required to work in hot, dirty, and chemically hazardous environments
- Minimum valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certification with a commitment to attain 3rd/ 2nd Class Certification
- Requires considerable sensory attention and Regulatory Responsibility
- Requires excellent mathematical skills, verbal communication skills, and mental reasoning skills
