Job Description:
The Serpent River First Nation Economic Development Corporation (SRFN EDC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to direct and coordinate the projects of the Corporation. The projects will be in the three areas of Business Development, Green Initiatives, and Tourism.
Responsibilities of the ideal candidate:
- Effectively initiate, implement, and manage projects as directed by the Board of Directors
- Be familiar with effectively working and reporting to a Board of Directors Understand First Nation governance
- Be familiar with federal and provincial relationships as it relates to funding
- Must have knowledge of funding agencies and the granting process
- Guide and mentor community members in the development of small businesses
- Be familiar with project management
- Must be familiar with facilitation of community consultations process, working groups/meetings
- Maintain small business statistical information
- Understand and able to compose a business plan
- Understand the process for Strategic Planning for Economic Development
- Establish relationships with potential partners for investment opportunities as it relates to the community
- Conduct special research and/or analyze economic development program activities

Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to gather, collate and analyze a variety of information/data
- Understanding of loan application and disbursement processes
- Basic understanding of community resources and development needs
- Thorough understanding of economic development principles and practices
- Knowledge of the Anishinabek culture and language is preferred
- Post-secondary studies in Economic Development or a related field
- Ability to gather, collate and analyze a variety of information/data
