POSITION: Energy Coordinator - Economic Resource and Community Development
CONTRACT: Full Time Contract

Overview:
The Energy Coordinator is responsible for provided support services, program assistance and coordinating the special projects file specifically related to the GRFN Community Energy Plan (CEP). Additionally, building capacity in the engagement and training area to further develop and sustain the overall capacity for the Garden River First Nation as it relates to Green and Renewable Energy. Further, the Energy Coordinator functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate engagement and information sessions that will focus on skill enhancement, training opportunities, securing external resource partnerships specific to renewable energy
- Identify and evaluate methods to avoid, save and conserve energy and greenhouse gas emissions
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for supplying the communities` energy needs from renewable resources
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for local economic activity associated with energy installs and retrofits
- Develop, in collaboration with community, targets for community energy use and greenhouse gas emissions
- Establish and maintain a project website and social media presence
- Ongoing research and project implementation
- Various funding sources- provincial and federal government and the private sectors
- Project opportunities- moving towards Net Metering Approaches for the band own buildings, and tourist attractions
- Providing progressive administrative and clerical support, including database filing
- Prepare letters and forms
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts. Memos, Excel spreadsheets, briefing notes, power point and emails
- Attend and prepare committee meetings, including recording and distributing minutes, agendas and other relevant information as requested
- Organize and prepare agendas for Council Portfolio meeting and record and distribute minutes of such
- Work with other departments in the Garden River Fist Nations
- Complete monthly calendars and community newsletter submissions
- Performing other related duties as may be required and assigned

Compétences requises:
- College diploma or certificate in Office/Business Administration or 5 Years related experience
- Proven administrative experience and knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and acknowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
- Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude
- Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever changing environment
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communicational skills, both oral and written
- Excellent computer skills (including MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook)
- Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment
