Job Description:
The Asset Management Plan Intern will need to fulfill a number of duties and responsibilities as follows:

. Maintaining the official record of the asset inventory and related information
. Inputting the asset inventory into a computerized integrated system
. Perform computer modeling of infrastructure condition and performance to predict remaining
serviceable life of assets
. Prepare a 10-year reconstruction program, based on life-cycle analysis, conformance to current
standards, customer complaints, repairs and maintenance records
. Develop a short and long term operating and capital expenditure financial plan of infrastructure
assets. Identifying of gaps in available funding
. Prepare annual preventative maintenance programs for assets and identifying repair or maintenance needs based on inspection and condition assessment information before budget deliberations
. Develop and maintain a level of service framework to reflect legislative requirements and community
needs
. Provide strategic direction and develop/establish/implement standard processes for collecting, updating, maintaining and managing the assets information, condition inspections and mapping
. Complete on-site construction inspections
. Responsible for reporting to his/her supervisor that a contractor is following all specifications, special
provisions and standards included in the contract package
. Update and/or develop policies as required
. Adhere to our Official Plan, Strategic Plan, Investment Readiness Plan etc.
. Provide input regarding Economic Development.

The rate of pay shall be $25.00 per hour, plus $1.65 for each hour worked in lieu of benefits upon
successful completion of the required probationary period.

Required Skills:
. Graduate within three years of either engineering program below:
o Civil engineering technician (2 year program)
o Civil engineering technologist (3 year program)
. Functional understanding and application of all relevant asset management legislation and associated regulations to ensure Municipal compliance e.g. Ontario Regulation 288/2017
. Knowledge in the principles and application of asset management concepts and practices
. Understanding of municipal infrastructure (roads, water and sewer, bridges and culverts, stormwater
etc. assets)
. Knowledge in developing condition assessment and inspection plans and programs, processes and
protocols for data collection
. Knowledge of roadway engineering design, maintenance and contract administration
. Math skills to complete calculations in engineering surveys, design calculations and estimating
quantities
. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
. The ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a work environment with requests coming from
multiple sources throughout the workday.
. Possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, diplomacy, organizational and time management
skills
. Strong business writing skills and oral communication skills.
