Job Description:
The Blind River and District Chamber of Commerce serves the communities of Blind River, Spanish, Serpent River, Spragge, Algoma Mills and Huron Shores. This opportunity is proudly supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation NOHFC.

The Chamber Manager Intern will report directly to the Chamber of Commerce Board and is directly responsible for a variety of business community development activities including:

-Coordinate, under policy guidelines, membership services, new member sales and retention of members.
- Establish and maintain a rapport with local businesses and community groups, promoting the area and policy issues.
-Provide a full range of administrative and office support including maintaining records and documents for the Chamber of Commerce Board.
-Represent the Chamber of Commerce at functions and events.
-General office duties, including but not limited to preparation of agendas and recording of minutes at monthly Board of Directors meetings, preparation of correspondence (ie: monthly newsletters), reports, answering telephone, email and in-person customer service questions, maintenance of department database and routing filing.
-Responsible for implementation of the finalized budget and work with the Board appointed accountant to produce month end financial reports.
-Monitor accounts receivable/accounts payable and month end preparation.
-Upgrade and maintain Chamber of Commerce website according to established parameters.
-Establish and maintain a rapport with sister organizations, government agencies and local government.
-Develop annual events and event proposals, including financial, marketing and organization resource impact reports.
-Oversee and attend events such as Chamber Golf Classic, Moonlight Madness, Street Festival and Professional Development Opportunity sessions.
-Establish and monitor the maintenance of the computerized database and manual back-up for the Chamber of Commerce.
-Monitor and build membership sales with the establishment of member retention programs, utilizing established policy guidelines.
-Direct and oversee membership solicitation efforts.
-Identify potential policy issues, projects or proposals for Board consideration/action.
-Comply with all Health and Safety obligations.

Required Skills:
-Ideal candidate must be a graduate (within the past 3 years) from a post-secondary institution in any of the following Business related disciplines: (Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Community Development)
-Knowledge and/or experience in marketing, communications, economic development and administration.
-Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Exel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
-A good understanding of databases, web technology, website development and social media.
-Have strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
-Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently.
-Have excellent customer service and public relation skills.
-Have strong organizational and time management skills.
-Knowledge of economic and/or community development practices and techniques.
-Have well developed work ethic, integrity and the ability to build trust among stakeholders.
-Be goal orientated.
-Valid class G driver`s license.
-Resourceful self-starter with creativity and initiative.
-CPIC required at candidate`s expense.
