Job Description:
Contract: 1 Year (January 7, 2019 - January 7, 2020), 3 Month probationary period.
- Rate of pay: $14.00hr
- Number of hours per week: 35
- Flex hours, a timesheet will be filled bi-weekly, assuring staff works the required hours, and neither
parties are taken advantage of.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for the development of communication initiatives, event coordination, and the
implementation of the Downtown Associationís self-generated revenue areas. This positions is to increase
the Downtown Associationís profile in the community, develop new stakeholder partnerships, and strength
the Associationís ongoing campaigns. This is a one-year paid position supported by the Northern Ontario
Heritage Fund Corporation.

Reports to: General Manager
In regards to payroll: Board Executive

Duties and Responsibilities
? To review current statistical information of the organization`s website, and identify markets that
need to be advertised to via methods of digital advertising (google analytics, adwords, social
media paid advertisements, etc)
? To assist, administer, evaluate and promote an online user forum for internal use for staff and
membership.
? Assists the Admin and Communications Coordinator in communication with Downtown
Association (DTA) membership, General Manager, board members and committee members
both verbally and electronically.
? Research best practices and create a template for staff to input/update throughout the next 3
years in regards to membership return on investment.
? Design a holistic short term marketing campaign for Downtown Sault Ste Marie. This job includes
sourcing all materials, developing relationship with needed stakeholders, designing each graphic
to suite and leaving workable template documents for updates for the following year.
? Prepares media releases when needed and design all outgoing media for the 2017-18 year.
? To assist staff and various subcommittees with tasks involving: events, communications and
beautification (example: handing out Downtown packages to the 2018 cruise ships, Hertiage
walking tour - tour guide)
? Working all event dates
? Persuasively communicating the organization`s mission and programs to potential funders.
? Conducting prospect research to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner.
? Aiding in the distribution and successful collection of various Downtown Association sponsorship
Packages.

Required Skills:
Qualifications
-University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited
university or college. ( Recent graduate of: Public Relations and Event Management, Media and
Design, Web Development, Hospitality Management or a comparable program is required.)

Preferred Knowledge, Skill sets and abilities
-Previous event experience
-Previous marketing experience
-Interpersonal skills
-Excellent written and oral communication
-Excellent organizational skills including, attention to detail, accuracy, time management.
-Ability to create, coordinate, and evaluate events and projects
-Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Suite,
Wordpress website backend novice knowledge, google tools.
-Strong social media skills & experience.
-Ability to learn
-Outgoing, flexible & motivated.

Working Conditions
-Office environment
-Able to walk/move extensively around the downtown BIA area
-Event work, which may require lifting, hauling, etc.
-Minor office cleaning to maintain a clean and organized office space
-Attending some early morning or evening meetings may be required
-Working event dates
-Having a valid Ontario Driverís license is an asset
-Security clearance minimum cpic (others as required)
